In DAYDREAMS & PRAYERS, Aella will present an exciting mix of sacred and secular music, all written within the past 50 years. The first half of the program showcases the diversity of today’s religious repertoire. It includes the electric “Gloria Kajoniensis” (scored for choir, percussion, and piano) by Hungarian composer Levente Gyöngyösi and Will Todd’s exquisite “The Call of Wisdom,” a composition inspired by Proverbs 8, which was commissioned in 2012 for the Diamond Jubilee of Her Majesty The Queen.
The second half of the program features everything from folksongs to a Tragically Hip arrangement, and it also includes two pieces with no lyrics at all! Additionally, we are thrilled to be premiering “All the daydreams must go,” a brand new work by Aella alumna Adele Marsland, who just finished her first year at Mount Allison University’s Music Department.
